Halloween 2010: Sea Salt Caramels Enrobed in Milk Chocolate

We continue our review of orenji’s Halloween 2010 “treats” with a look at another “favorite” of ours—and of our friends and clients: Sea Salt Caramels enrobed in Belgian Milk Chocolate!

We begin with a buttery vanilla caramel, cooked slowly, infused with pink flaked sea salt from Australia and orange sea salt from Hawai’i. The salt adds a depth of flavor to the caramel, cutting the sweetness, and balancing the sticky treat!

Once cooled, we hand cut each of the caramels, and them enrobe them in the finest Callebaut Belgian milk chocolate. Sprinkled with pink salt, these are as beautiful as they are delicious.

Boxed in chocolate brown tapered boxes, and tied with our orenji monogrammed ribbon, these treats make a perfect gift for the Thanksgiving host or hostess!

Like what you see? Sea Salt Caramels are available for order for Thanksgiving 2010 (sold by the ½ pound). Our orenji pricing guide will be mailed this weekend, and you will find these delectable treats there!

Halloween 2010: Pumpkin Cheesecake Swirled Brownies

We continue our review of orenji’s Halloween 2010 “treats” with a look at another “favorite” of ours—and of our friends and clients. Bittersweet chocolate brownies with pumpkin cheesecake swirl! These delectable treats are one of our most popular items—both at Halloween and at Thanksgiving!

We begin with a classic bittersweet chocolate brownie base, made with the finest in dark Belgian cocoa and extra virgin olive oil. The olive oil contributes not only a deep taste, but the fruited undertones work perfectly with the sweetness of the pumpkin! A dash of sea salt makes these brownies rich and flavorful! Pumpkin liqueur adds depth to these already dense chocolate brownies!

We then make our classic orenji cheesecake base, flavored with fresh roasted sugar pumpkin, Tahitian vanilla, and autumn spices. Smooth and creamy, this pale orange base is swirled throughout the brownie, adding a flavor and textural contrast.

Decorated with seasonal decorations, and cut into generous squares, we are told that these are so delicious, and so rich, it is difficult to eat an entire brownie in one sitting—but even more difficult to stop eating it!

Like what you see? orenji pumpkin cheesecake swirl brownies are available for order for Thanksgiving 2010 (sold by the dozen). Our pricing guide will be mailed this weekend, and you will find these delectable treats there!

Halloween 2010: Caramel Pears... our favorite!

Here at orenji, we love this time of year—when the air is a bit brisker, and the wind promises that winter is just around the corner. Halloween has always marked that transitional period for us, and when we were located on the East Coast, we would put on our favorite sweater, go apple picking, and enjoy the best of what autumn had to offer. Of course, in California, things are a bit different, but we are still able to find ways in which to enjoy the fall!

This Halloween, we were able to create a number of treats—some favorite and familiar, and some brand new (and soon to become favorites)! In today’s post, we are going to look at one of our favorite things—caramel pears!

We start with the finest Anjou pears, and lovingly coat them in homemade caramel—a molten mixture of fresh cream, sugar, vanilla, and butter that simmers on the stovetop for hours until it reaches just the perfect consistency!

Once dipped, the pears receive a foundation of fresh toasted and salted cashews.

Our pears are then drizzled with the finest Belgian chocolates—this year, we used both white chocolate and milk chocolate. Finally, in honor of the festive holiday, sugar decorations in black and orange were added for the spooky touch!

Decorated with rustic twigs for handles, and tied with our orenji monogram ribbon, these treats were perfect for the child (or adult!) trick-or-treater or guest.

Each of our pears (or apples) are works of art—as beautiful as they are delicious!

Like what you see? orenji caramel apples and pears are available for order for Thanksgiving 2010. Our pricing guide will be mailed this weekend, and you will find these delectable treats there!
