Hawaiian-Asian Birthday Party: Tropical Birthday Cake!

We finish our coverage of the Hawaiian-Asian Fusion Luau birthday celebration with a look at the birthday cake! The guest of honor requested a chocolate torte with some form of tropical fruit filling. We offered many suggestions, and in the end, a caramelized banana and white chocolate mousse won the day!
Layers of dense chocolate cake were filled with freshly caramelized bananas, and a smooth and creamy white chocolate mousse. The entire cake was covered with bittersweet chocolate fondant, with tropical leaf cutouts. Fresh orchids and lemon leaves finished the cake beautifully.

We won't lie-- this cake was both rich and sweet... but the perfect conclusion to a lovely birthday party that we were pleased and honored to be a part of!

We will turn our attention next to a multi-course plated degustation meal where the star of every course was cheese! (yes, cheese...) Bu sure to come back and see how we incorporated cheese into each of our courses, without the meal becoming overwhelming or overpowering. You don't want to miss this!
